Visa & Invitation Letter

Visa entry for conference attendees can be categorized into three types depending
on the country of passport held by the attendee:

1. Countries Eligible for Visa Exemption and Visa on Arrival: Attendees can directly travel to Taiwan with their passports, without the need to apply for a visa.  Please ensure your passport is valid for at least 6 months upon arrival and prepare proof of onward travel and accommodation.  The countries include:

• 90-Day Visa Exemption
  Eligible countries include:
  Australia, Austria, Belgium, Canada, Czech Republic, Denmark, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Republic of Korea, Netherlands, New Zealand, Poland, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, United Kingdom, United States, and many more.

• 30-Day Visa Exemption
  Belize, Malaysia, Nauru, Saint Kitts and Nevis, Saint Lucia, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Singapore.
• 14-Day Trial Visa Exemption (until July 31, 2026)
  Thailand, Brunei, and the Philippines.

Note: Travelers from visa-exempt countries do not need to apply for a visa in advance.

2. Countries Eligible to Directly Apply for e-Visa: Attendees of the following countries may apply for an e-Visa directly online through Taiwan’s official portal, without needing special invitation or approval:
Bahrain, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Burkina Faso, Colombia, Dominica, Ecuador, Kiribati, Kosovo, Kuwait, Mauritius, Montenegro, Oman, Panama, Peru, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Solomon Islands, Turkey, United Arab Emirates.

3. Countries That Need Prior Approval for e-Visa Usage (through the Organizer):
Attendees from countries not listed above must apply for an e-Visa with prior approval arranged by the conference organizer (e.g., Academia Sinica).  These attendees must submit a copy of the information page of their passport to the organizer at least 6–8 weeks before the conference.  The organizer will apply for approval on their behalf before the attendee can proceed with the e-Visa application.

4. Visa requirements for the participants whose nationality is People Republic of China

• Residence NOT in Mainland China: They can travel to Taiwan by applying for tourist visas without providing an invitation letter. If an invitation letter is required, please refer to the information below.

• Residence in Mainland China: Traveling to Taiwan is only possible by the invitations from the local organization team in Taiwan (Please follow the instructions below)

Invitation Letter

The invitation letters can be directly issued during the ESWEEK 2025 conference/workshop registration process.

In case the information in the default invitation letter is insufficient for VISA requests, please contact iho@as.edu.tw  In your request email, please include the following information

• First & last name
• Gender (male / female)
• Birth date (to avoid month/day confusion, please use a format similar to dd-Mon-yyyy)
• Birthplace
• Passport number & country of issuance ＆ expiry date
• Company / affiliation
• Role

For authors of accepted papers at ESWEEK 2025, please also include the title in your email. For other participants, please wait for the registration to be open as the organizers cannot commit to providing you an invitation letter without such registration.
