ESWEEK Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Policy
ESWEEK organizers believe that a diverse community is needed in order to foster technological innovation and excellence. The members of the ESWEEK Organizing Committee are working together to address diversity, equity, and inclusion specific to this year’s conference and towards ESWEEK’s long-term diversity and inclusion vision.
As an important step towards this vision, we focus on creating awareness by ensuring each organizing committee and their members are aware of diversity, equity, and inclusion issues and take them into account in their contribution to the preparation of the program.
ESWEEK 2023 will follow a hybrid conference model. We will work with presenters and attendees to make content available online and accommodate specific needs. We will explore assistance for in-person meetings, such as support for families with children. To lower barriers for attendance, we will have a fee waiver program for attendees who otherwise cannot attend.
As a participant, we ask you to:
- Help create an inclusive conference space.
- Respect your colleagues.
- Understand that we all have different backgrounds and communicate and express ourselves differently.
- Refrain from offensive or disparaging comments, particularly those related to race, religion, disability, age, national origin, culture, skill level, occupation, background, sexual orientation, gender identity, or gender expression.
- Connect with the diversity and inclusion chair if you become aware of disrespectful behavior in the above sense.
Please contact nele.mentens@kuleuven.be for any questions, ideas, or comments on how we can make this conference work best for you.
