ACM SIGBED Student Research Competition (SRC)
The ACM SIGBED SRC is the main student research competition in the real-time, embedded, and cyber-physical systems. There are two categories: undergraduate and graduate (Masters or PhD).
For each category, three overall winners will be recognized. Champions, first runner-ups and second runner-ups will receive $500, $300 and $200, respectively. For the graduate category, there will be Best Scientific Research Award, Best Industrial Impact Award, and Best Presentation Award, where each will be with a prize of $300. Each participant can receive one award at maximum.
Champions of each category will represent SIGBED and compete against other SIGs in the ACM Grand Finals. All grand finalists together with their supervisors will be invited to the Annual ACM Awards Banquet, where the Turing award is given.
There are two rounds for the SIGBED SRC. In the first round, a participant submits a 2-page extended abstract describing his/her original work to be reviewed. It can be on any topic falling in embedded, real-time, and cyber-physical systems. For the undergraduate category, the participant does not have to be the main contributor of the work, but his/her portion needs to be clearly stated.
The participant accepted to the second round is required to make a live presentation at ESWEEK 2022. Student accepted to the second round can apply for a reimbursement-based grant of $300 to partially cover travel costs. We encourage students to attend ESWEEK in Shanghai in-person, if possible.
A panel of judges will review the works based on scientific novelty, practical impact, and presentation. The first round is online and the second round is hybrid.
Submission for the first round should be submitted before the deadline of August 19, 2022 (AOE). The second round and award ceremony will be with ESWEEK 2022, 7-14, October, 2022.
